Soil Testing Laboratory

Mazlab Pty Ltd

Has been trading for 20 years and has primarily focused on "Acid Sulphate Soils" laboratory testing.

We also offer a drilling sampling capability in order to assist our clients in enhancing the integrity of the samples through specialized sampling methods (eg. Vibracore).

We are aware that a costly laboratory analysis and its ensuing results may be compromised by insufficent understanding of such issues as cross-contamination etc.

We are based at Tweed Heads on the Queensland/New South Wales border. Because of our close proximity to Coolangatta Airport, we are able to receive and process laboratory samples from throughout Australia efficiently and with minimal delay.

In addition to the above environmental sampling and testing. We also undertake geotechnical investigations and drilling.

Our two senior drillers have a combined 75 years experience in the field and a background in geotechnical laboratory testing.

ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY:

  • Specialising in acid sulphate soils.

  • Member of Australian Soil & Plant Analysis Council (ASPAC).

  • Participant in the ASPAC Inter-Laboratory Proficiency Program

ENVIRONMENTAL DRILLING & SAMPLING:

  • Over Land: Jacmaz 500 4x4 Drilling Rig

Pengo 4x4 Drilling & Boring Rig

  • Over Water: (A) Motorized Pontoon/Barge with Vibracore Sampler (mainly used in difficult access area's)

                             (B) Twin Hull Shark Cat with Vibracore Sampler (open water, river ect)

GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION DRILLING & BORING:

  • Jacmaz 500 mounted on 4x4 Landcruiser

  • Pengo heavy duty drilling & boring rig

  • 4x4 support & cartage vehicle

SAMPLING TECHNIQUES:

  • Auger and or Wash Bore.

  • U50 (Undisturbed tube sample).

  • Vibracore (Continuous undisturbed sampling).

  • SPT.

  • Wherever possible and particuarly in relation to Acid sulphate soil, Vibracore sampling is the method of choice.

The Advantages of Vibracore are:

  • Continuous sample up to 12m depth.

  • No sample loss in wet or very loose soils, due to a vacuum applied in the sample barrel.

  • No cross contamination of soil profile where water table is present.
